These are some of the objects and mechanics our studio has discussed at this week’s workshop. The elements of the game below are still currently a work in progress, and are subject to change. So far we have settled on the theme being abstract of sorts, but are still yet to nail down the specifics.

Object/Mechanic Purpose Relationship to player Player Interaction
Life Source (Medicine) A helpful item that is necessary for the player to stay alive. When in contact with the player, it replenishes a portion of the player’s life, as represented by a life bar/colour of player (yet to be decided). To be collected by the player by shooting at it, which then attracts the item towards the player’s location.
Evolution Material (DNA) A helpful item that as collected over time, it slowly evolves the player into its next form. When shot at and absorbed by the player, it slowly grows and changes the player’s body parts to represent evolution. To be collected by the player by shooting at it, which then attracts the item towards they player’s location.
Virus/Bacteria An enemy that slowly creeps towards the player, where they must avoid physical contact with the virus/bacteria. If in contact with the player, it reduces the size of the player’s character. If shot at, it disperses evolution material via DNA, and inherits some of the virus/bacteria’s characteristics. Physical contact to be avoided by the player by moving around, although can be shot at to extract its DNA.
Parasite An enemy that must be avoided at all costs. If shot at, it aggravates the parasite and moves towards the player’s location faster. If in physical contact with the player, it slowly leeches life from the player’s life for 5 seconds, and then disappears off-screen. To be avoided by the player at all costs by moving about.
Electric Pulse To shoot collectibles and enemies. Small short bursts of electricity emanate from the character towards the player’s chosen direction. Controlled by arrow keys/right joystick.
